PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The Papatoetoe Town Board met last evening. Permission was granted to the Papatoetoe Town Band, assisted by the church choirs, to hold a sacred concert in the Town Hall on Sunday evening. Mr. E. V. Blake, town planner, recommended the granting of a building permit of J. Thompson for the erection of business premises in Portage Road, and recommended the • refusal of a permit to G. Pateman for the erection of business premises in Victoria Street. Mr. Nettlingham recommended that permission be granted Thompson to erect a temporary building in wood and iron, in lieu of permanent materials. as laid down by the bydaws. Mr. Sorenson said that it did not seem fair to turn down one application, and to let another get in under the by-law. On the proposal of Mr. Nettlingham it was finally agreed to grant Thompson’s application, and to refuse Pateman’s. The clerk reported that the general account was in debit £2,124 14s lid. The chairman reported that the whole of the debentures for the water works loan had been disposed of over the counter at the board’s office at 54 per cent. The water engineer reported that the pump would be installed at the end of the week, and he expected the storage reservoir to be filled on Saturday.
