DIGNITY UPSET
Jam and Doggerel at Hospital NURSES "CONFESS GUILT” The dignity of the Auckland Hospital Board has been restored. At a recent special meeting held at the hospital, three nurses appeared before members and. the chairman. Mr. W. Wallace, and confessed to the crime of writing a small doggerel verse and leaving it with a tin of jam outside the matron s quarters. This incident was honoured by two whole paragraphs in a special report which was placed before the board at its . meeting yesterday. They were follow: “Before proceeding with the busi ness the chairman made a statement regarding insubordination on the part of several nurses,” the report stated. “The matter arose out of resentment by the nurses at having jam placed on their table in a manner not customary in the dining room, the fault being primary dilatoriness on the part of a housemaid. The nurses, howevei wrote some rhyming drivel on a piece of paper and placed this in the corridor outside the matron’s quarters with the tin of jam on top of it. “After a general discussion three nurses, who voluntarily confessed their guilt, were called into the room and reprimanded by the chairman. The three girls, at their own request, were allowed to apologise once again to Miss Nutsey in the presence of the members of the board.”
