MONOPLANE PASSES AZORES MAKING GOOD SPEED fAustralian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 12.25 p.m. NEW YORK, Mon. A message from Ponta del Garda, in the Azores, states that the monoplane Young Switzerland, piloted by the Swiss airman. Captain Kaeser, which is en route from Lisbon to New York, reported passing the island of Terceira at 4 p.m. local time. The plane apparently is heading for Halifax and is making a fine speed, the motors working well. The flyers apparently have averaged about 100 miles an hour so far. The United States Weather Bureau predicts favourable weather for the entire flight, with the exception of a slight area of depression north-east of the Azores.
