SUPREME COURT OPENS JUDGE’S CHARGE TO JURY Press Association YEW PLYMOUTH, Today. The Supreme Court opened before the Chief Justice, the Hon. M. Myers, this morning. The caJendar contained one case for retrial and eight indictments. against seven persons. In his charge his Honour said he did not know that the numbers of indictments or prisoners was any indication of more crime than one might expect m a district of this nature and extent. Some cases were of an alarming and unsatisfactory nature. He referred to the case in which a man is charged with negligently driving a motor-lorrv so as to cause the death of a man. and his employer was charged with aiding and abetting the offence by knowinglv allowing him to drive without lights. The re-trial of John Stanford Ludwig on two charges of assaulting a little girl of eight years is proceeding.
