MINISTER AUTHORISES WORK f From Our Own Correspondent; PUKEIvOHE, Today. Representations on the subject of unemployment to the Minister of Public Works, tlie Hon. E. A. Ransom, have resulted in his agreeing to 25 men from Frankton being placed on relief works. Following a discussion at a recent meeting of the Franklin County Council. Mr. J. N. Massey. M.P., the chairman. and Colonel M. Aldred, a member of the council, waited on Mr. Ransom last week, when he decided to place 10 men drawn from Waiuku on road works at Awhitu. When paying a visit of inspection to the Waikato River on Saturday. Mr. Massey approached the Minister in regard to unemployment at Pukekohe, pointing out that the services of several of *fie pole gang had been dispensed with by the Post and Telegraph Department The Minister authorised the employing of 15 married men drawn from Pukekohe, also on road works at Awhitu.
