PROMINENT IN BUSINESS

.3/r. R. A. Colyer , is the senior partner in the firm of Colyer, Watson and Coy., Ltd., general exporters, specialising principally in hides and sTcins.

Mr. Colyer does not talk about ichat he has done; it took the ter iter many months to collect enough data for this short par. Born in "New South 'Wales , he was educated at the Maitland High School, and started out in business with tjie Pacific Cable Company, holding down jobs with this company in Queensland and Fiji.

He left the Cable Company to join the Queensland Meat Export Company and gained a wide experience is stock buying and selling and shipping of meat, hides, and skins. Several years were lost with the A.I.F. in the Big War. but the cessation of hostilities soon found him back in Queensland. Nine years ago he came to New Zealand on his own account and, within that short time, has established branches for his company in all parts of New Zealand and Australia, being now the predominating factor in the hide and skin business over the territory in which-he operates. His rapid rise in the commercial icorld provides one of the romances of Australian and New Zealand business.

A keen athlete as a young man , Mr. Colyer now spends any spare moments fishing, swimming or golfing.
