The semi-finals of the Waiuku Golf Club were played on Saturday, when Howden beat Forbes, 4 and 3, and Bloomfield beat Colbeck at the 20th green. In the junior championship Hill beat Morris and Aldred beat Madden. In the final of the Bloomfield Cup Ohison beat Munro, 3 and 1. In the senior championship of the Ladies’ Club, Miss Glynes beat Miss Hull, 4 and 2: Mrs. Munro beat Miss Barnaby, 4 and 3; Miss Muir beat Mrs. Barker, 5 and 4; Miss Arkle beat Miss Neil, 3 and 2. In the intermediate championship, first round. Miss Aldred beat Mrs. Herrold. 4 and 2: Mrs. Bloomfield beat Miss Lawes; Mrs. Heise beat Mrs. Staunton; Miss West won from Miss Smith by default. S. O’Connor and R. Hume, with a net score of 137 each. A play-off between these two players will be arranged at a later date.
MATCH AT HELENSVILLE The Waitemata Golf Club played the Helensville Golf Club a return match on the Helensville links during the weekend. The match ended in a win for Waitemata by six games to three, three games finishing all square. Following are the results (Waitemata players being mentioned first): —Hogan v. Fenner, all square; Layzell lost to Pa ton, 3 and 2; Chapman lost to Coutts, 1 down; Wilson and Baxter, all square; Harper beat Strange, 1 up; Prime and Craig, all square; Jackson beat Nicol, 7 and 5; Rae beat Thorne, 1 up; Taylor lost to Stanaway, 5 and 3; Clarke beat Sandon, 1 up; Whitley beat Stewart, 1 up; Downer beat Wayte, 3 and 2. The four-ball match played in the afternoon was abandoned owing to rain, a swimming carnival in the Hot Springs Baths being substituted. After several closely contested heats, Wilson won the final of the championship for a trophy’ presented by Mr. K. Stewart.
KING COUNTRY COMPETITIONS
WOMEN’S EVENTS WON BY TE KUITI (Special to THE SUN) TE KUITI, Today. With the exception of a few hours on Friday, rain marred the play in the King Country golf championships at Te Kuiti on Friday and Saturday. The Te Kuiti Club was successful in winning all the women’s events — women’s championship, teams championship, teams handicap and medal handicap. Mrs. Kennedy won the women’s championship, with a score of 141 for the 27 holes, a very creditable performance under the existing conditions. Mrs. McLeod. Te Kuiti. was runner-up with 144, and Mrs. McDonald. Te Awamutu, third with 145. Last year’s champion, Mrs. Richter, Taumarunui, was fourth with 147. A total score of 899 was registered by Te Kuiti in the teams championship. Te Awamutu was second with 944. In the teams handicap Te Kuiti won with 701. The bogey handicap went to Mrs. Robinson, Te Kuiti, 4 down. Miss Graham. Te Kuiti, 6 down, while Mrs. Kennedy, Te Kuiti, was third, 7 down. Mrs. Robinson, Te Kuiti, won the medal handicap event.
