The following was the result of the leading event: THE KING’S CUP Of £2,000, and a gold cup valued at £IOO the gift of his Majesty; li miles. VALAPARAISO (W.'T. Brunton), b g 6yrs, by* Valais—Lady ' San, 8.6. . 1 ROYAL FLAVOUR (.L. V. O’Hara), b m, 4yrs, by Claro—Forest Witch, S.O 2 GUNCRAFT (M. Ryan), b h, 4yrs, by Polycraft—Waving Plume, 7.1 .. 3 Taking up the running going out of ihe straight Valparaiso led all the way. He was well clear into the straight where he was challenged by Guncraft and Royal Flavour. * Valparaiso finished strongly to win by a short length from Royal Flavour, who was a length and a-half in front of Guncraft. Time, 2.30 i (Queensland record). The New Zealand mare Oratrix was prominent early, but faded out to finish well back. Seatown did not run as well as early in the meeting, but finished well considering that the race was run within a second of the Australian and Xew Zealand record, and half a second faster than ihe Queensland record.
