PAEROA NOTES

The usual meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council was held on Thursday night. A telegram was read from the Minister of Public Works to tbs effect that the Government is prepared to authorise an additional £4OO subsidy for the relief of the unemployed The following resolution was passed; —“That this council place on record and convey to the Hon. E. A. Ransom its recognition of his business-like and prompt manner of dealing with Ji* application.” At the last meeting of the Paeroa High School Board, it was decided to purchase 15-inch double-sided gramophone records, consisting of 30 French lessons. Correspondence from the Education Board indicated that Miss E. J. Sutton had been instructed to attend the school as relieving assistant during the absence of Miss K. S. Taylor. Mr. W. Power was granted extended leave of absence. Messrs. Lowrv and Smith were appointed a visiting committee for August. .
