SYDNEY PICKS UP CALLS
Preset Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Acting-Secretary of the General Post Office advises that the following reports have been received from Wellington Radio and Awarua Radio Stations, respectively:— ”10.27 p.m., August 15. —S.O.S. Picked up by Sydney radio and words 'Breaerhaxer, Oslo, Koppenb.’ Apparently the call was not heard by Melbourne radio, or ships on the Australian coast or New Zealand stations.
, “h-3 p.m., Sydney radio broadcasts continue working. Keep sharp lookout for ship with telefunken spark note sending letters S.O.S.’ "At 11.3 p.m. yesterday Sydney radio requested all stations ‘Keep a sharp lookout for ship with telefunken spark note sending letters S.O.S.’ ’At 3.31 this morning the steamer ralsterbo (call sign Seoa) was informed by Sydney radio ‘We heard •esse', distress. All he says is “Bresierhaxer, Oslo. Koppenh.” Sydney Jsked Falsterbo meaning of words, but vessel's reply was not heard here.’ The Sydney radio asked the Moeraki ‘Did you hear any distress up nat way 8.40 p.m. last night?’ and the ‘atter replied ‘No.’ ”
