WAIKATO INSPECTED
RIVER TOUR BY MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS EVOLVING DRAINAGE SCHEME (From Our Oicn Correspondent) HUNTLY, Today. An inspection of the Waikato River, with a view to evolving a drainage scheme that will relieve flooding of low-lying lands, is being made by the Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, today'. The Minister, accompanied by Messrs. F. Lye, M.P. (Waikato), A. W. Hall, M.P. (Hauraki), W. Lee Martin, M.P. (Raglan), arrived at Huntly this morning and joined the river steamer Manuwai from Hamilton. Among those making the trip on the Manuwai were Messrs. J. R. Fow (Mayor of Hamilton!, Campbell Johnstone (chairman of Waikato Hospital Board), T. B. Insoll (secretary of the Waikato County Council. P. Henry. D. Hay, Thomas Hinton (chairman of the Central Power Board), Geo. Smith (Waikato County Council!, officials of the Public Works Department and Drainage Board. Rangiriri will be the first stop, and a large number of interested people j is joining the party there and at i Mercer. The party will go as far as I the Waikato Heads.
