LYA DE PUTTI BLAMES BRITISH INTERVIEWERS FOR INDISCREET STORY
J* YA DE PUTTI, German film star now in England, found that several indiscreet remarks
to an interviewer had been cabled to Hollywood, where they created a sensation. Now she denies the authorship of any such criticism. The report quoted her
as saying that Hollywood was “a pain in the neck,” and that “the divorce scandals of America's film world will spelll ruin for pictures.” Next day she cabled to Hollywood:—“British reporters to say the least, use methods that would not be tolerated by the American Press The entire story is a superb garble bearing not the slightest relation to the interview granted this super-imaginative journalist.” Lya should have been a politician.
