GOLF CLUB DANCE
JOLLY PLAIN AND FANCY DRESSS EVENING HUNTLY ENTERTAINMENT The Huntly Golf Club recently held a jolly plain and fancy dress dance In the Masonic flail, which was gaily decorated for the occasion. Miss Peake (Te Awamutu), Powder and Patch; Miss Ward, Pierrette: Miss Sheeran, Italian Street Singer; Miss Edwards, Powder and Patch; Miss Ralph. EX-SERVICE WOMEN MEET DANCING, BRIDGE AND MUSIC A successful evening was held by the Auckland Ex-Service Women's Association at the Jewish Club on Wednesday, when more than fifty members and their friends were present, Tite hall was gaily decorated with coloured streamers. Dancing, bridge and musical items were enjoyed. Among those present were:—Mesdames Leary, Gould. Deck, Michaels, Sinclair, Reid, tVhitehouse, Hogg Wrigley, Fraser, Carruthers, Stocker’ Preston, Thomas, Blampied, Jacob, and the Misses Ernest, Luxford and Stubrlngton. AN “AT HOME” i VICTORIA LEAGUE MEETS An At Home to welcome new members oi the Victoria League was held at the rooms yesterday afternoon. Luring the year the league has gained 149 new members, and of these there were no less than 120 present. The president, Aliss Alow bray, w elcoined them and gave a brief description of the various committees, also making an appeal for books and magazines to send to the backblocks. especially books suitable for children. The arrangements for the Daffodil Day At Home, which is to be held in. September, were also outlined. Miss Mowbray saying that since the City Council had taken away from them the Daffodil Day street collection, the league must make money in some way or another. Since 1919 the league had helped the Plunket Society, the Free Kindergarten, the Young Citizens, the Boy Scouts and the Girl Guides, and it was regrettable that it was no longer in a position to continue this help. Later, afternoon tea was served, the hostess for the occasion being assisted by several of the members. Songs were given by Miss Robertson.
