MOTHER SHIP OF SUBARINES TO "GO WEST."-H.M.S. Medway, sub marine depot ship of the Royal Navy, is a floating base which has mooring accomodation for a whole flotilla of submarines space aboard for all their crews. She is 580ftlong and more than 135 officers and 1,600 men can live aboard, The vessel has about a dozen workshops fitted up with most modern repairing devices and spacious storerooms carrying "space parts" and food supplies. In the design of the Medway special attention has been paid to protection against under-water attack. This wonderful ship will be taken out of commission according to the programme laid down by the new British Government for extensive naval "cuts"
