On Wednesday afternoon a s Pp rt ' carnival was held at the Arawa racecourse, at which three branches of sport were represented—girls’ w®*' ball, men v. women hockey, and basketball. . The football match was extre interesting. A team of Maori ffh’" succeeded in beating a Pakeha tF* team by- 29 points to 6. The Mao team was considerably heavier •■* a ‘ the Pakehas. but both teams gave Clin a good exhibition, showing a surpn ingly keen knowledge of the rules * points of the game. The combination of the K° l basketball representatives was good for a team selected Hockey Association, the former ning an interesting game by !• to 6-
