FAREWELL AND WELCOME

PUBLIC TRUST FUNCTION The staff of the Public Trust Office, Auckland, assembled at the Tudor Tea Rooms last Thursday for the purpose of bidding farewell to Mr. R. F. Ward who has been in charge of the office at Auckland for seven years, and for the further purpose of welcoming his successor, Mr. A. S. Faire, recently of Palmerston North. , J ‘ Ryan - solicitor to the Auckland office of the department, was in the chair and other speakers who expressed the good wishes of the staff to the guests were Mr. Collins (for the administration staff;, Mr. Downard (accountant), and Mr. King (inspector) The guests included Mrs. Ward. senr. Mrs. R. F. Ward, Dr. Fitchett and Mr K. N. H. Browne. Apologies were reL el^, e - d I r ° m . Mr - J - W. Macdonald, public Trustee, Wellington, Mr. E F. u arren, Mr. D. L. McKay, New Plymouth. and Mr. Kilgrour, of Thames. E)r. Fitchett, who was Solicitor-Gen-eral of New Zealand for many vears and Public Trustee of New Zealand from the year 1910 till the year 1917. in a happy speech, made a presentation to Mr. Ward from the staff Mrs Mard, senr., and Mrs. R. F. Ward were presented with bouquets from the lady members. Items of entertainment were contributed by Misses Ross, Kennedy and Dang-low and Mr. Holdgate. A pleasant gathering, details of which were well arranged by Mr. G. R. Metcalfe. was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
