Road-making in Great Britain used up 13,040,000 tons of granite and limestone in 1927, produced from British quarries. it is estimated that the damage done by rats in Dusseidorf (Germany) amounts to £IOO,OOO each year, and a four days’ rat hunt is to be organised to rid the city of the pests.
