TRIP FROM ENGLAND TOOK 45 YEARS SAILED 1884; ARRIVED 1929 (Australian and, NZ. Press Assoc-{alien} (United Service) Reed. 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Sailing from England to W'ellington in 1884 John Woodcock, now a. sturdy man of 70, failed to reach his destination'uutil six weeks ago when on 11 5 way Home to England. Having landed at Hobart while en route to New Zealand in 1884, he missed the ship and later found work in Tasmania, subsequently visiting most parts of Australia. and New Zealand except Wellington. He recently went to Southampton in the Corinthlc, aboard which he met a missionary, the Rev. A. Benton, who persuaded VVoodcock to accompany him as engineer on a voyage to the upper reaches of the Amazon in a. 70ft motor—launch. ~
