Sir A. Edward Kemp was born in 1858 at Clzu‘enceville. Quebec. A suc« bessful business man, he entered the Canadian Parliament in 1900, and 11 years later became a Minister without portfolio. He was Minister of Mii Ila and Defence in 1916-17, and Minister of the Canadian Overseas Military Forces in 1917-20. He was a member of the Imperial War Cabinet in 1918. He was knighted in 1917.
