' PL'KEKOHE, Monday. The Franklin County Council met today, Mr. J. N. Massey, 31.13., presiding. Following a report from the Auckland Harbour Board’s engineer upon the cubic capacity of shell banks ifi‘ .the Manukau Harbour, it; was decided to make application to the board re—questing that the VVaipipi bank be reserved solely for the council’s use. Resolutions intended to operate as special orders, authorising the raising of the following loans. were adopted: —Te Toro district special area rating loan of £I,OOO, and VVhangapouri Road. Runcimau. special rating area. loan of £250.
I The decision of a'lspecial meeting held a fortnight ago to declare an additional eight and a-half miles as county main road was adopted. The roads selected werez—Awhitu Central main road (Awhitu riding), two miles: Ramarama to Ararimu Road (Drury riding). three miles; l—lunua to Paparimu Road (Hunua. riding), one and a-half miles; Kariotahi main road (“'aiplpi riding), two miles. The following general rates were struck:—Awhltu riding, I l-Sd; Drury. 13d; Hunua, lfid; Kai-aka, 1d: )iauku. 1 3-Sd; Mercer. 15d; Pukekohe East. 1 l-Sd: Pukekohe “‘est, 15d: “‘aipipi. 11d: “’ajuku, lld. A hospital rate of 3-10 d was struck. After some discussion. it was agreed again to allow a. rebate of 5 per cent. on rates paid within one month at the demand.-
