. MR. ROBERT BURGESS A greatly respected resident of Papakuru, Mr. Robert Burgess, died yesterday in the ambulance on his way to the Auckland Hospital. 111'. Burgess, who was a carpenter, had been ill for some months. He leaves a widow and five young boys. He will be buried at Pannkura tomorrow. MR. H. COCKS Mr. Howard Cocks. of Ladies‘ Mile, Remuera, has died at the age of 40. Mr. Cocks was born in London and educated at the Hamilton Academy, Glasgow, later entering the motor business. Coming to New Zealand in ‘I9OB, he returned to England two years later. After the Great War Mr. Cocks re—turned to New Zealand and was appointed engineer to the Tongan Gov—ernment. He was a prominent Mason. He is survived by his Wife and one child. ' ‘ MRS. I. BRADY An old and greatly respected resi—dent of \Vaihi, Mrs. Isabella. Brady, died in tho \Vaihi Hospital on Saturday morning, in her Blst year. The into l\'lrs. Brady. who was a. native of Pollock Shaws, Glasgow. arrived with her parents. Mr. and Airs. NICCormack, in Aucklancl- on the ship Columbus in 1862. A settlement known as Pollock Shaws settlement wa33 founded in Auckland, but the McCor-l muck family did not join it, preferring‘ to take up their residence in Thames} Mrs. Brady is survived by a, son. Mr.‘ P. G. Brady. of W'aihi, and one daughter, Mrs. A. ”\Vebb, of Birkenhead, Auckland. MR. T. L. WILLIAMS The (loath occurred on Saturday of a pioneer settler. Mr. Thomas Landeg. \Villiams. of Pendurves Street, New; Plymouth, at the age of 86. Mr. \Villiums was born in Glainorganshire nncl‘ was taken to Blelbourne by his parents when he was still a child. ‘ Attractod by the goldfields. he came tu New Zouland and spent some time in Otago until the )laori war brought him to Tarunuki. where he made his home. He landed at New Plymouth in 1813-1 with the Otago Military Settlers. For some time after the war he worked in the sawmill of Air. Ilenry Brown and later was employed by the Taranaki Lighter Company. He was connected as a (liver with the building of the first wharf. He is survived by one son and two daughters.
