NOTED SCOUT RESIGNS

SIR ALFRED PICKFORD’S DECISION BOYS HONOUR BADEN-POWELL (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. Sir Alfred Bickford, Imperial Overseas Commissioner of the Boy Scouts, has announced his resignation, which will take effect in October. His successor will be Colonel Granville Walton. Lord Baden-Powell, the Chief Scout, has presented each Dominion with a flag, which has flown on the Cenotaph at Whitehall. Lord Baden-Powell on Saturday toured the Boy Scouts’ camp at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, on horseback. He addressed 500 scoutmasters. Christian Holm, Danish Chief Scout, on behalf of the world’s scouts, presented the Chief Scout with a RollsRoyce motor-car with a caravan trailer, and a cheque for £2,750, also a portrait in oils and an illuminated scroll in a casket. He paid a tribute to the Chief Scout for his inspiration to make boys loyal and useful citizens, and to teach them the rules of the great game. The radiator of the presentation car bears a Fleur de Lys and is inscribed: “To our beloved Chief from the Boy Scouts of all the world.” The jamboree is now approaching its end. The gates will be closed to the public on Monday morning. Pilgrims’ Way will then ring for three days with the tramp of youthful legions starting out upon their return to the four corners of the earth.
