PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT KELLY’S CORNER RAIN SPOILS SPORTS In spite of the cold westerly shenrerc which prevailed on Saturday, there wa? a good attendance at the meet of th? Pakuranga Hunt, at Kelly’s Corner Great South Road, Papatoetoe. A number of hares were put up bin each instance rain spoiled the seem and after a drenching downpour it decided to call the meet off. The first draw was made on Mr A Swaffield’s farm, and it was not lorn; before the hounds raised a quarr which crossed the road into Colonei yman s property and ran through into Air. P. \v yman’s, and on to Mr Stonei« farm. Here the scent was spoiled bv sheep and rain, and the hare was able to find shelter. The pack then worked through Mr. Stonex s farm, but without success, bat soon after reaching Mr. P. Wyman’s, a fresh hare was raised, which took the field at a sharp clip through thr properties of Mrs. Clapham and Mi Ted Clayton, after which it travelled along the road for a short distance, til: a cold shower spoiled the scent, and the quarry was lost. A visit , was then paid to a dry pp.ddock on Mr. Ferguson’s farm, where the hare led the field for a spin back across the road on to Mr. Wyman'< and Mrs. Clapham'i?. It passed through a number of small holdings on tf> tlie road by Kelly’s Corner, and throu;:.: Mr. Muir’s, and back to Mr. Fergusonf where the field experienced anothe: heavy downpour, and the scent was lost.
