HISTORIC GOES FAST A JOCKEY INJURED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The weather was fine for training work at Riccarton, and several fast gallops were done on the outside of the trial grass. Roi de Val beat Quantum over live furlongs in 1.5, and Historic beat Otairi over seven in 1.33 1-5. Novar and Mister Gamp ran the last mil© of their work in 1.53, and Matu and Brightling covered a mile in 1.51 Black Duke beat Gay Sonnet and Taboo at the end of half a mile in 51. Full Feather and Semper Paratus did an easy half-mile. Filosol and Membo ran half in 53, o.nd V oung Thurnham. Birkbeck and Fabriano did a working gallop once j round. Vesperus and Courageous took 1.21 4-5 for the last six of seven furlnogs, Zippor and Shortly covered half in 54, and Pat’s Boy beat First Raid over half a mile in 51. Black Mint ran half e. mile easily in 56, and Royal Saxon, going easily alongside Blue Metal for a half-mile, took 55. Red Boa beat King Balboa over half in 52 1-5. Overhaul Jumps Well Elysianor jumped six hurdles well, and Overhaul gave a good exhibition over four hurdles. Democratic and Otama ran their last six in 1.22 1-5. Thurnbell jumped two hurdles, but the effort was spoilt by the rider losing a stirrup at the first flight. Craigmore went well oVer nine hurdles. Uralla accompanied him the first three, but did not jump so well. Apache and Paris did a working gallop over a mile, and Kaiti did half in 52, Gold Cure following with similar work. Lord Ranald ran home the last naif mile of his work in 55 1-5. Great Lady and Lucky Bag ran half in 52 1-5, and Glenrowan and Narrative covered half in 52 4-5, Amorist doing the same alone. Clarenson and Whiffler put up a fair effort over four hurdles. Taramoa and Te Haunui were I schooled over the fences. Te. Haunui fell at the seventh, his rider, A. Young- ; man, breaking a collarbone. Taramoa jumped three more alone, but was tiring. Bonrose ran half a mile in 54. FOUR HORSES FALL APPRENTICE DIES FROM INJURIES (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) MELBOURNE, Sunday. Four apprentice riders were injured when their mounts fell in the race for the Chatsworth Plate yesterday P. O’Hanlon, rider of Third King, arid J. Scarlett, rider of Sartareso, were sent to hospital in a serious condition. and O’Hanlon died later. The other horses concerned were Black Ink : and Cetotis. Of the 3 9 horses which started four came down at the end of three furlongs. An inquiry was opened and I adjourned until the jockeys are fit to j give evidence. i
