Grammar School Diamond Jubilee is Celebrated
Annual Function is Brilliantly Successful
DECORATIONS OF BLUE AND GOLD
Old Boys and Old Girls foregathered in throngs at Scots Hall last evening, when a most successful bail was held to celebrate the Auckland Grammar School diamond jubilee.
Blue and gold, the Grammar School colours, were deftly* employed in an elaborate decorative scheme. Fronting the stage, was a large shield with the lion emblazoned, held in place by blue and gold streamers, while smaller shields and devices with their sig-* niticant motto occupied conspicuous positions in an ornate plan. Xovelties in lighting effects enhanced the beauty of lovely frocks. The progress of time in a period of sixty years was indicated by gold numbers over each doorway, denoting every decade. Beautiful spring flowers irises, wattle, daffodils, and jonquils—made the stage a bower of beauty*, and in the supper-room they were also massed in fragrant abundance. the school colours again predominating in effec-
tive manner. During the evening an exhibition of j the Quick Step and new Waltz was | given by Air. F. Easson and Aliss Joan Alorris, pupils of Alisses Alargaret and Kathleen O’Connor. Acting as chaperones were:—Airs. 11. J. D. Alahon, who wore powder blue velvet with silver flowers appliqued to the skirt. Airs. F. W. Gamble had chosen larkspur blue georgette, with black oriental shawl. Mrs. C. AT. Littlejohn was in gold lame and sedge green georgette. Airs. E. Roberton wore a black georgette frock. Mrs. AV. Ward Baker was in black georgette and primrose wrap. Arrs. C. B. Tlummer had on wistaria georgette, embossed in chenille. Airs. J. Stanton had on cuban orange georgette embroidered in gold sequins. Airs. A. St. Clair Brown chose, gold lame and peach pink georgette. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Airs. Kenneth AlacCormiek chose flame satin faille, with a black lace shoulder wrap. Airs. Aliss Joyce Carr wore a pretty frock of silver lame and ciel blue georgette. Aliss Thelma Saunders was wearing point settia red lace over black chiffon. Aliss Eleanor Beale’s frock was of ivory satin beaute and frilled tulle. Aliss F. Saunders chose a gown of leaf green satin with overskirt of petalled tulle. Aliss Olive Bickerton’s frock was of sea foam green taffeta with frilled skirt and spray of autumn flowers over shoulder. Aliss Heather Crandell was in delphinium blue satin and tulle, with hem of pink tulle. Atiss Alaida Alaclndoe had chose ivory georgette and lace. Aliss Kathleen Alorpeth was in ciel blue taffeta, with long skirt and shadow hem of pink tulle. Atiss Coigan wore lime taffeta with panels of frilled net. Aliss K. O’Connor wore leaf green velvet with daffodil spray at shoulder. Aliss Joan Alorris was in peacock blue satin with petalled hem and spray of cyclamen. Aliss Jean Alueller’s frock was of briar rose geoi'gette and lace, with diamente relief. Aliss AVetherbilt wore shell pink crepe de chine with rose crepe de chine inset. Aliss C. Wood chose cyclamen taffeta with blue tulle hem. Aliss Gwen Cook was in sunset taffeta with hip bow. Aliss Matthews was in a frock of silver lame and frilled tulle. Aliss B. Aliss Vera Knell wore sapphire blue taffeta with circles of rosebuds on skirt. Aliss J. Goulding chose silver and green lame, with leaf green georgette. Aliss P. Fountain was in lilac crepe de chine. Aliss P. Frater wore wedgwood blue georgette over silver lame. Aliss O. Basten was in ivory taffeta, with gracefully dipping skirt. Aliss Alarjorie Beveridge was frocked in pink taffeta and tulle. Aliss Ahadge Evans wore ivory* satin and georgette, with petalled skirt. Aliss Shirley Prater’s frock was on primrose satin and georgette. Aliss Jean Ormsby wore ' rose satin beaute, with large hip bow of rose and green satin. Miss Dorothy Xorton’s frock was primrose lame, and silver, with lace skirt. Aliss B. Thompson was in cameo pink charmeuse and tulle. Aliss Ellis had on cherry georgette, with a Spanish shawl. Aliss B. Arbuckle was in almond green taffeta, with diamente relief. Aliss D. Owens chose ivory georgette, worn over silver lame. Aliss L. Atiss Isabelle Brook’s frock was orange chiffon velvet with tulle hem. Aliss E. Bradley wore a sea gree-n taffeta frock with uneven hem.
