“COAL MAN RIVER”
NEW GERMAN ENTERPRISE Germany is about to open a great water-borne coal mine by recovering the coal dust that for years has been washing down the river Emscher. The Emscher runs through the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial area, where water used in washing coal has been flowing into it for years. Recently an experimental plant demonstrated that the river silt was so impregnated with coal dust that commercial recovery is profitable. Now the Emscher Corporation is constructing a plant to* recover 100,000 tons of the dust annually.
