GETTING READY
THE main training track at Alexandra Park was in fine order yesterday morning, and after being well harrowed by the caretaker afforded good footing. Although there was a large number of horses present, little or no fast work was undertaken, mentors generally being content to trust in the prospect of good conditions today, one of the recognised days for special work. A few, however, profiting by the experience of previous week-ends, indulged in strong work, preparatory to more raising exertions next week, when should the climatic conditions prove favourable, affairs will assume a much livelier interest in view of the Auckland Club’s benefit fixture on August
