PRINCIPAL RETIRES

PRESENTATION TO MR COUSINS

A presentation to Mr. H. G. Cousins, the retiring principal, was made by students of the Auckland Training College at a function held yesterday afternoon.

Oil behalf of the students, Mr. Tv. Mcßae said he hoped Mr. Cousins would find many occasions on which to visit the college again. In reply Mr. Cousins referred to the 14 years lie had served as principal and said he had always made the college the centre of his life. He proposed to settle on a small farm at Henderson, where he would spend his remaining days.

The presentation of a silver coffee service was made to Mr. Cousins by Miss L. A. Smith, co-president of the students’ executive. Miss C. Baker asked Mr. Cousins to accept a bouquet from the students as a small gift for Miss Coysins.

In the evening Mr. Cousins was given a dinner by the staff. The viceprincipal, Mr. D. M. Rae, handed Mr. Cousins a silver rose bowl and a framed photograph of the staff on behalf of the gathering. Other speakers were Dr. Clinch. Mr. J. W. Shaw and Mr. E. G. Jones.
