TUTANEKAI IN PORT

WORKING LIGHTHOUSES KEEPERS TRANSFERRED The Government lighthouse steamer Tutanekai arrived at Auckland this morning, and berthed at the Central Wharf. The vessel is on her usual visit to the various lighthouses round the coast of the North Island. She left Wellington on the morning of Wednesday, July 31, and worked Cape Palliser light the same day. She lias worked all the lights coming north, and was at Ohena and Cuvier yesterday. At East Cape she was only able to work for a short time owing to rough weather. The Tutanekai leaves on Monday for Bast Capo again to finish her work. Keeper Hall will be taken on board, and will come to Auckland, while Keeper Hannah and family, of Akaroa, who are now on the Tutanekai, will be left there.

After finishing at the East Cape, the Tutanekai will return to Auckland to load further stores, and will then attend to the lights in the Hauraki Gulf. She later returns to Auckland for further stores, and it is hoped she will set away from this port early in the following week for Northern lights, and round to Onehunga, where she is due about August 24. From Onehunga the vessel will proceed down the west • oast back to Wellington, wher*i she is expected toward the end of the month.
