RELIEF OF DISTRESS

FUNDS FROM PICTURE THEATRE SPLENDID MAJESTIC OFFER More than £ SOO has been distributed this year by the Auckland Business Men’s Relief Service to relieve distress in Auckland. The organisation, which is doing exceptionally good work throughout the city and suburbs, is in need of funds, and in response to an appeal the proprietors of the Majestic Theatre have agreed to give half their profits for one week toward the relief service. The season will begin this evening, and the picture will be “While the City Sleeps.” with Lon Chaney in the leading role. Tt is a detective story of the underworld —thrilling and absorbing. It is hoped that the theatre will be well patronised, so that the poor and needy of Auckland will benefit by a generous offer.
