Tug Southland to be Sold The Bluff Harbour Board has decided to sell the tug Southland and ultimately to- withdraw from the Stewart Island service. The decision has been arrived at as the result of the loss by the board of £B,OOO during the past 18 months. The Southland, like the Maui Pomare, is equipped with semi-Diesel engines. =? # * Two Boys and Girl Abscond Two Maori lads, both aged 17, who absconded from licensed service in Hawke’s Bay, /i their employers’ car, and taking with them a 17-vear-oid European girl who had also been licensed out. were before the Child Welfare Court in Gisborne today charged with absconding, unlawfully converting the car to their own use, and breaking and entering and theft. The magistrate ordered them to be detained for reformative treatment for two years, and that the girl be returned for supervision to the Child Welfare officer.
