When two brothers were engaged in felling a tree near Tarata on Mon day, a large half-dead branch crashed down on the elder, killing him instantaneously. Sydney Francis Young, a single man aged 26, with his younger brother, had a fencing contract on Otaraoa Road, about 31 miles from Tarata. They were at work felling a tree to split up for posts. The tree was about to fall and Young, an experienced bush man, stepped back out of harm’s way. but the falling trunk struck another tree nearby and stripped off a limb, which fell directly on to the man. A doctor was sent for, but Young was already dead. An inquest was held at Inglewood yesterday before Mr. W. L. Kenned} - , district coroner, who returned a verdict of accidental death.
