BORROWING CURTAILED
AUSTRALIAN LOAN COUNCIL SETS LIMIT # £28,000,000 FOR THE YEAR Reed. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The Commonwealth Loan Council decided to curtail public borrowing in the current financial year by 20 per cent., limiting the requirements to £28,000,000. The New South Wales share will be in the neighbourhood of £8,500,000; Victoria, £6,000,000. Representatives on the council are convinced that curtailment will involve some hardship and trade disturbance, but the position is inescapable.
