MORPETH IN SEMI-FINAL
VICTORIAN AMATEUR GOLF TITLE IVO WHITTON DEFEATED MELBOURNE, Tuesday. Tlay in the Victorian amateur golf championship was continued today on the Commonwealth links by match Play ever 36 holes. The weather was line. The semi-finalists are Sloan MorPeth, L. Nettlefold (Australian champion >, M. Ryan and A. Hancock. Morpeth’s chances are highly regarded in spite of the caliare of Nettlefold and Ryan, who are in great form. Morpeth today had an even tussle with Fawcett. They were all square at the end of the first nine holes, for which each took 39. Coming home c_awcett had chances to win at the Lth and 18th holes, but failed to sink ”t putts. Morpetli came home in -40, to Fawcett's 39, and was 2 up. MorPeth s score was 79 and Fawcett's 78 "or the round, in the afternoon MorPeth won at the 37th hole. Hancock defeated Bulte at the 39th hole. They were all square at the e nd of the first 18 holes. vettlefold defeated Fowler by 6 up a !d sto play, after being lup at the end of the first round. Ryan defeated Ivo Whitton by 4 up dn d 3 topla . Ryan was 3 up at the end of the first IS holes.
