MOUNT RICHMOND DOMAIN
SCHEME OF IMPROVEMENTS Beautification work at the Mount Richmond Domain has now been commenced. The funds of the Domain Board have grown to approximately £1,300. The revenue of the board is derived from rents and grazing rights, and the Otahuhu Borough Council pays a subsidy for water rights. which produces a maximum of £2OO a year. Workmen are at present engaged in constructing a road from the main entrance on the Great South Road, which will run round the foot of the hill and connect up with a road previously constructed, joining up with Panmure Road.
The front entrance will be of a substantial ornamental nature, provision having been made for iron gates. The present brick fence is to be replaced by a concrete wall, surmounted by ornamental railings. A scheme of tree-planting on the reserve is also to be carried out and it is intended to form winding paths from the base of the hill to the water tower site.
