FUN AND FROLIC
REVUE AT ST. JAMES Led by Janice Hart and Frank O’Brian, the current revue at St. James is as full of pep as could be desired. The ballet upholds with but little difficulty its reputation as the best trained and best dressed girls Auckland has seen for some time. This week the ballet’s star turn is a classical scena. The comedy work falls mainly to the lot of Mrs. O’Brian’s boy, Frank, and his popularity with his audience is undeniable. After several hilarious sketches lie concluded last evening with “Forty-seven Ginger-headed Sailors” and the audience was loath to let him leave the stage. Of the soloists, Marie Ward and Mabel Morgan did the most work and did it well. Vivacious little Iris Gumbley led the ballet in several spirited numbers, her best effort being “Didn’t I?” The band was in good form and after a generous offering of the latest hits, finished up with a riotous comedy band number in which Frank O’Brian was well to the fore.
