Young Blake Gives Fine Exhibition

ADDINGTON TESTS AUCKLAND PACERS PLEASE (Special to THE SUN) There were a fair number of horses on the track at Addington this morning, including some from New Brighton, when the trotter Young Blake put up the choicest performance. Work was accomplished on the outside of the main track, which provided excellent footing. Western Voyage (W. Tomkinson) set out from the two-mile peg, but did not settle down too well, and broke with about nine furlongs coveredT He recovered his stride quickly, and looked like coming home fast, but he broke badly again in the straight, lie gives a much better account of himself in company. Delightful, who is looking well, was not required to go last. In Fine Order Young Blake (W. Tomkinson) went in perfect style over a mile and five furlongs, which was done at a fast < !ip. He is in great heart, and is improving with every run. Glide way (J. Walsh) and Logan Park (C. Dunleavy) gave glimpses of real speed in several smart brushes. Golden Devon (V. Alborn) piloted Audominion (A. Candy) in a useful work-out over a distance. The old trotter is in nice buckle. Wilma Dillon (J. Walsh) carried Tonic (W. Tomkinson) along at a breezy bat for a mile and a-half, which tin* trotter did without a mistake. Wilma Dillon went very attractively in harness this morning, and was never required to do his best. Native Prince Goes Well Native Prince (J. Shaw), uphoppled. moved sweetly oved 12 furlongs. He was asked for something extra in the straight, and responded with a lot of vim. He seems to have improved in stamina, in which case his prospects as a stayer may be better fancied tiian his proved qualities as a sprinter. The handicapper is taking no chances with Shaw's charge in the latter department. Audobell (F. G. Holmes) brushed home smartly in a finishing piece, after going a few circuits at a comfortable pace. Koval Comrade (D. Bennett) accomplished a live-furlong sprint in particularly attractive style. He will be raced at Greymouth in the spring. Carmel Pleases There were no faults to find with Carmel's two-mile essay. J. S. Shaw held the reins and he was getting

Shaw) started off with Nighborn (S. Gallagher) at the mile and a-half disc, but The pace over the first round was lagging. Nelson McKinney broke badly with six furlongs covered, but he settled down to some purpose round the back, where Nighborn made him look very cheap. Nighborn gave a taking display, although he was never asked to do his best. Kiowa (G. McKendry) acted as pacemaker, to Nelson Boy over a mile and u-half. Kiowa pulled badly throughout, and nothing in the nature of extreme speed was attempted by either horse. Avenger Does Best Jolly Chimes (J. N. Clark), Mac Dillon (J. D. Smith) and Avenger (H. Frost) set out in that order to go a mile and a-half. There was no change in these positions until the straight was reached, where Avenger, finishing like a tornado, beat the other pair home comfortably. The work-out was done at about a 3.30 clip. Nelson McCormack (J. Walsh) had had quite sufficient a lung way from home, when required to step a mile in company with Maiwhariti, who went in harness. While Maiwhariti was never at top speed, he acted his part very well. William the Great /is well, and handled by 11. Frost, he hit out in his best style. Lingfield was sent a mile and aquarter, which she accomplished satisfactorily. 1929 TROTTING FIXTURES N.Z. Metropolitan T.C.— Aug. 10, 14, IG. Auckland T.C. (Special).—Aug. 31.
