Grand National Acceptances Acceptances for all first-day events at the C.J.C. meeting on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of next week, including the G.N. Hurdles, are due tomorrow night. To Reappear Prince Humphrey is expected to make his next appearance in public—his first since the A.J.C. Derby meeting ten months ago—in the open sprint at the Hunt meeting at Ellerslie on August 24. IViany Winners With no less than ten recent winners engaged at present in the open sprint at the Pakuranga fixture at Ellerslie on Saturday fortnight, there will be no dearth of public form to go on. The winners over the past couple of months are Gold Money, Taneriri. Denier, Mark Mint, Marble King, Standfast, Palmares. Paddon. Welkne and Partial Eclipse, and the majority of these will go to the post. Only Two There are only two tliree-year-olds entered for the open sprint at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday fortnight. They are Flying Prince and Bennie. The Three-Year-Olds Several of last season's two-year-olds are to be given their first run of the new racing term in the Sylvia Park Handicap at Ellerslie on August 24. Some of them either showed promise or else were well spoken of, so that their next meeting will be awaited with interest. Among them are Motore, Currajong, Flying Prince (these 'are all winners). Snowplane, Lucky Alice. Gigolo, Ruling Chief and Refresher. Crimestor is another, but he figures in the hack mile. Pakuranga Hunt

The following meets have been arranged by the Pakuranga Hunt Club: Saturday, August 10, Kelly’s Corner, Papatoetoe; Tuesday, August 13, Ardmore; Saturday, August 17, E. Tamaki Creamery; Tuesday. East Tamaki; Tuesday, September 10, Howick P. 0.; Saturday", September 14, Point-to-Point races at Ramarama (subject to permission of Minister of Internal Affairs).

Guineas Candidate In his two-year-old days Crimestor always attracted attention on account of his size, and the prediction that he would develop into a good three-year old looks very much like coming true. He has grown a lot during the winter find has furnished to some extent, though not quite so much as anticipated. Crimestor showed flashes of form last Reason, and just failed to be in the foremost position at Pukekohe in May, when lie filled second berth to Te Taone. He is nominated for a mile race at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting, and this should serve as an excellent preliminary to his Avondale Guineas engagement. For Big Events

Few Avondale-trained horses are doing as well as Maori Bov. and the son of Lucullus is in tip-top order, particularly after racing at Trentham, which has left him bright and muscular. An honest galloper, it is a pity that Maori Boy has not done better than he has. for although still a hack and recognised as probably the best of that class up this way, he is almost at a prohibitive weight, which will eventually influence his ownertrainer, T. Davison, into sending him out with the good ones, a class in which he previously showed to advantage by his third in the Franklin | Cup at Pukekohe in March last

Not Liked Apparently the fences on the Grand National course known as the kennels double are troubling numbers of horses in their schooling efforts. Uralla baulked at this obstacle no less than three times yesterday. Hector Gray’s Licence Hector Gray, the jockey, whose disqualification was lifted by the conference last month, made application to the Auckland District Committee yesterday afternoon for a licence, and the matter was referred in the usual way to the Licensing Committee of the conference. The same course was taken with a number of other applications. Waikato Spring Meeting At a meeting of the Auckland District Committee yesterday the Waikato Fracing Club made application for a change of dates for its spring meeting, from October 26 and 30 to November 16 and 18. It was decided to recommend the change. The Avondale Jockey Club’s programmes for the season were approved. The programme of the Waikato Hunt for its meeting at Cambridge on October 2S was also passed. Track Form Proved Two days before the Warwick Farm meeting last Saturday the best sprint of the morning at Rand wick went to Killarney and Mountebank. Carrying equal weights, they finished together, and registered 512 for half a mile. On Saturday Killarney, receiving 141 b, accounted for Aussie. The gallop referred to was registered with the flags 70 feet . out.

Chance For Aussie Canterbury Park Race Club officials have decided on an innovation for the meeting on September 7. Included in the programme will be a £SOO weight-for-age race, run over six furlongs. The' event will no doubt . attract a bigentry, for there will be many horses of class nearing the top of theii*- form in Sydney at the time. Club Member Expelled The committee of the Western Australian Turf Club supplied the following statement to the Press last Thursday:—"The committee has disqualified Mr. E. P. Holmes during the pleasure of the committee for infringing Australian Rule 58 and under Australian Rule 135 a, and has expelled him from the club under club by-law 32. This is tho result of many months’ investigation. by the stipendiary stewards of the W.A.T.C.” Rule 58 says: “Any person betting with or for any jockey or rider may be fined or disqualified or warned off the course.” Rule 135 a reads: “The committee of any club or stewards may disqualify for any period they may think fit or during their pleasure any person who, in their opinion, has been guilty of dishonest, corrupt, or fraudulent, or improper practices on the turf.” Horses For Auckland At Haw era on Thursday W. Pine worked Denier and Rose Ferry at useful pace work. Bisox and Silvermine went once round at a good working gallop, bo-th striding out in good style. Bisox is intended, all going well meanwhile, for Avondale and Auckland spring meetings. Calyx and Clever Spear galloped half a mile in 57sec, with Clever Spear a head in front at the finish. Benzora, Partaga, and Latakia were allotted usual half-pace work. Partaga and Latakia will probably be seen out at the Marton meeting next month. Grand Marnia finished just in front of Silent over half a mile in 56sec. Guard of Honour was a length to the good of Royal Satin in a sprint over four furlongs in 57isee. At Home At the opening of new municipal offices the builder, a rough but effi-cient-looking gentleman, was called upon to say a few words. “Mr. Mayor, ladies and gents,” he said, “I’m not cut out for this public speaking My proper place should be on the scaffold.”
