LECKIE RETURNS

BOUT AGAINST SARRON N.Z. CHAMPION WAS OVERTRAINED Looking fit and well, Johnny Leck:e, feather-weight boxing champion of New Zealand, arrived back in the Dominion by the LTimaroa yesterday. Leckie is accompanied by his wife. His trainer. Mr. Archie Leckie, stayed in Australia. The champion had little to say of his exploits in Australia. Questioned about his last fight with Sarron, the American, he said that coming out of a clinch in the second round, Sarron hit him very hard and he never recovered, being knocked out in the 13th round. **l was over-trained. The fight was put back a week, and I kept on training hard. Consequently I was not at my best, but I hope to meet Sarron and beat him if he comes to New Zealand. We had a good time in Sydney,” concluded Leckie. While in Australia the New Zealand champion had five fights, beating Grime and Claude Wilson on two occasions. He defeated Sarron once and lost to the American in his last fight. Leckie leaves for the South on Thursday.
