POPULATION OF 6,000 REDUCED TO 100 SOLOMON ISLAND STORY (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Arrivals by the Caluna today told of life at Vanikoroi Island, in the Solomon Group, and stated that five years ago the estimated population of the Island' was 6,000. Now it w,as less than 100, fever, measles and influenza having killed large numbers. There are about 25 white settlers there.
