PASSES FOR “SKY-PILOTS”

NEW RULE AT .ALDERSHOT HELP FOR CHURCH WORKERS An order, published at the Aiocrshot military camp in England, is likely to have a marked bearing on the voluntary agents of religions associations who have been in the hab;: of working among the soldiers of the the Command. In the old days it was possible for such workers to enter barrack rooms, hospitals, institutions and such place? and leave their tracts or talk with any man, hut such liberty has locf since been curtailed. The new order, however, implies that there still exists a need for ac tion respecting voluntary religion* workers, and a very important cob dition now governs the granting oi passes to them by the Assistant* Provost Marshal enabling them to enter barracks. The order reads: The position of approved voluntary I religious agencies, such as the Army Scripture Readers and the Soldiers’ ; Christian Association, operating in | garrisons and barracks under tkecon- | trol of the Army Council, and their | relation to the Royal Army Chapj lain*s Department, has recently oeei ! reviewed by the Army Council, who has decided that a better understand : ing is required of the conditions which ! should be observed by unofficial ! agents. I It has been decided that all sues organisations working within the Army will be subject to the author | ity of the Chaplains. In future, the Assistant-Provost Marshal, before granting a pass w enter barracks, will consult the As-sistant-Chap la in-GeneraL If the As-sistant-Chaplain-General approves he will, when informing the A.P.M- at the same time indicate by which particular chaplain the agent in question is to be supervised.
