INDIGNANT FACTORY MANAGER KING COUNTRY RUMOUR J (From Our Own Correspondent) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. A bombshell was exploded at the annual meeting of the Ohura Valley Co-operative Dairy Company. Ltd., held at Ohura on Saturday. Mr. F. Pleasants claimed that a rumour was going the rounds to the effect that the factory at Matiere was being used as a storehouse for sly-grog! “is that I rumour correct?” he asked. The factory manager, Air. H. Gibson, said that as far as he was concerned he was unaware that the factory had been used to store liquor in. and offered to donate £5 to the earthquake fund for every bottle of whisky purchased at the factory. All*. C. F .Stewart claimed that it “was an absolute lie”: and other directors bore him out in the contention, claiming that such charges as
Mr. Pleasants had brought up should be substantiated by the actual witnesses. It was decided that in future all complaints must be made in writing. In discussing the question of refreshments at the annual meetings, it was resolved that in future liquid refreshments be purchased from the funds.
