Tourville Preparing to Leave Auckland
LAST OF TRICOLOUR WELCOME APPRECIATED The tricolour of the French cruiser Trurville will flutter for the last time during this cruise In a Waitemata breeze this evening. At six o’clock the Tourville will leave Auckland for Wellington. Prom 3 o'clock to 5.30, the official “At Home” will be in progress. Most of the days have been packed with receptions and visits to interesting localities round the city. Auckland has regarded the riot of entertainment as a privilege. Receptions and entertainments were held freely yesterday afternoon and last evening. At a return luncheon on board the cruiser, the Primate, Archbishop Averill, Bishop H. W. Cleary, Consuls of Auckland and their wives, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican, Captain L>. V. Wells, of H. 11.5. Diomede, Mr. C. H. T. Palmer, president of the Navy League, and Lieutenant-Colonel J. Duigan were emoag the guests. A brilliant success was achieved at the French Club's ball, in honour of Captain J. M. C. Abrial and his officers last evening at the Click Clack Cabaret. Before the ball Captain Wells entertained Captain Abrial and two of its officers on board the Diomede, and |hen a large party attended the ball. LEAGUE’S HOSPITALITY In the Navy League’s clubroom for 'he seilors on Central Wharf, 30 girls from the Queen Victoria Maori Girls’ College gave a splendid programme in 'he evening.
