LOVER ATTACKS BRIDE

GIRL BRUTALLY BEATEN WITH HAMMER A HUSBAND’S SUICIDE Reed. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A brutal attack was made on Sunday on a woman who w*as married a week ago. Mrs. Patterson, aged 25, the wife of a Cessnock miner at a town on the coalfields. Her skull was fractured with a hammer. Her assailant is alleged to be a man who had resented her marriage to a rival. A similar case is reported, in which a woman was battered with a hammer at Grafton and her husband was found dead with his throat cut. He is alleged to have committed suicide. The dead man is George Denny, aged 60. His wife Jane is in hospital in a critical condition.
