FIRE AT CAMBRIDGE
THREE SHOPS DAMAGED (Special to THE SUN) CAMBRIDGE, Sunday. Two shops and part of another, all under the same roof, in Victoria Street, Cambridge, were badly damaged by a fire which broke out at 3 a.m. today. One of the shops was occupied by Mr. W. Man, fruiterer and confectioner, and another by Mr. N. T. Larkin, baker. They were owned by Mr. H. L. Nixon, of Cambridge. The third shop was owned by Mrs. Roberts, of Auckland. The fire apparently started in the fruit shop, which was well alight when the outbreak was discovered. Messrs. Man and Larkin’s premises were seri ously damaged, and the rear of the third shop, occupied by Mr. C. M. Crawford, outfitter, was also gutted ! and the whole of the stock badly damaged by water. Concrete and brick walls separated the premises from those adjoining, otherwise a more serious fire would have resulted. Mr. Nixon’s two shops were insured for £6OO in the National Office. The stock and fittings of Mr. Man’s shop were insured for £l5O, and those of Mr. Larkin for £2OO in the National Office.
