CAREER OF FAMOUS DIRECTOR

Herbert Brenon, eminent director, has been signed by William Le Baron, vice-president in charge of R.K.O. productions. to direct one of the most important of the forthcoming Radio Pictures. The Brenon-Lc Baron combination by this accession to Radio Pictures ranks, promises much in view of the

fact that both are credited with such hits as “Beau Geste” Long Island and others during the two and a half years they worked together at the P a r a ra o u n t

Studios. Brenon, on signing

the contract, remarked, “Le Baron is not only a splendid producer, but a talented artist. I feel confident we are going to turn out a big one. ' The acquisition of Brenon, following closely on the heels of the announcement that Mai St. Clair is to direct Rio Rita,” indicates the purpose of Radio Pictures to assemble an array of outstanding directorial talent. t Brenon has contributed some of the really great productions to the screen, Midi as “Beau Geste,” “Sorrell and Son” and “Pet«*r l’an.” He held the megaphone for Xorma Talmadge in “The Passion Blower” rind “The Sign of tho Door.” In 1922 he accepted a long-term contract from Jesse L. Ixtsky to work for Paramount, continuing with them for live years. Following that he produced for Samuel Goldwyn, releasing his pictures through United Artists, his latest for them being “The Rescue,” with Ronald Colrnan.

Over 300 pictures have been directed by Brenon. Among the famous players who have made their film debuts under his guidance are Mrs. Leslie Carter, Sir Johnson Forbes-Robertson, Nance O'Neil, Alla Nazimova, H. B. "Warner, Anna Q. Nilsson, Alice Joyce, Nils Asther and Louis Wolheim. He “discovered” Richard Barthelmess, Bert Lytell, Betty Bronson, Esther Ralston and Mary Brian.
