One interesting paragraph in the unauthorised expenditure items men- ; tioned in the Est imates presented to I the House of Representatives :is that i announcing that Mrs. Moncrieff, | mother of one of the ill-fated New Zealand airmen who attempt€;d tlie Tasman flight, has received an e.v gratia payment from the Government of £2OO. The widows of Captain Hood and Lieutenant Moncrieff each receive special annuities from the Fensions Department.
