I ; Paterson, of Palmerston North, at the ! age of Cl, was born in* Denmark, and ■ arrived in New Zealand 57 years ago. , : settling in the Forty-mile Bush. Mrs. j Neilsen died about 16 years ago. j 31r. Neilsen is survived by Mr. Lar- : sen Neilsen. of Mauriceville: Mrs. C. !H. Petersen. Palmerston North: Mrs. , Roigoid. Te Awamutu: and Mrs. P. K. | Mormensen, Mauriceville. There are . 31 grandchildren. MR. P. S. BROWN Mr. Peter Sturt Brown, who died , on Saturday at the home of his i nephew. Mr. 2 r . Phillips, of Walpu. I where be has tv d for the last two ; years, was one c m the earliest settlers i in the North. He was one of the original members of the Whangarei County Council and was chairman in 1883-1884. and 1887-1892. He was a veteran of the Maori War and a Justice of the Peace. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. MR. JOHN DISNEY Mr. John Disney, who died at Tauranga on Friday at the age of 87, was born near London and came to New Zealand 45 years ago. landing at Bluff and later going to Oxford. Canterbury. He went to Tauranga about IS years ago and had lived there until his death. Mr. Disney was unmarried and had no relatives in New Zealand. MR. CHARLES \V. BALL A pioneer settler of the Matakohe district. Mr. Charles W. Ball, has died ; in the Tc Kopuru Hospital at the age jof 71. Coming to New Zealand with I his parents in the sailing ship Bymat f "; ' at the age of six. Mr. Ball went to the i Matakohe district in 1873 where lie engaged in stock-raising, dairying and I beekeeping. He served on the Road Board and School Committee. ! Mr. Ball is survived by bis wife, five I sons, Messrs. Charles. William and i Daniel Ball. Matakohe, Fred. Ball, ! Hukatere, and John Ball. Xaumai, and ; four daughters. Mrs. H. Alexander, | Raupo. Mrs. T. Cooksey. Dargavilie. j Mrs. John Williams, Matakohe, and j Miss Rosie Ball. Matakohe. MR. WILLIAM PARSONS The death occurred on Friday at his home in Wynyard Street. Devonport, : of Mr. William Parsons, at the age of 79. Born in Somersetshire. England, Mr. Parsons went to Australia at the age iof IS. later coming to New Zealand, arriving at New Plymouth, and finally settling down at Timaru. He sent to ! Devonport 47 years ago. Mr. Parsons ! was l ead of the firm of W. Parsons j and Sons, contractors and carriers. and formed many of the roads at Takai puna. ; For one term .Mr. Parsons was Fa member of the Devonport Borough Council, and he was a member of the Devonport Orphans’ Club for many years. He had been a member of the Court Victoria Lodge from its beginj ning. Of a family of nine children. Mr. Parsons is survived by four sons and • three daughters. There are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
