THAMES PREPARES FOR AUSTRALIAN VISIT (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, Friday. The Thames-Hauraki Hockey Association has all arrangements complete for the visit of the Australian hockey team on Thursday next. Special train arrangements have been made, and buses will run from all parts of the district at reduced rates. The committee has shown considerable enterprise in catering for those who contemplate witnessing the game. The visit of the team has created a deal of interest in Thames. This is the first international combination of any kind that has visited Thames, and the Hockey Association is rising to the occasion to make the event a memorable one. The team selected to meet the Australians is an exceptionally strong one, and should fully extend the visitors. Given fine weather, there will be a record attendance at the High School grounds, where the match will be played. KING COUNTRY MATCHES (From Our Own Correspondent) TAUMARUNUI, Friday. The King Country ladies' representative hockey team, which journeyed to Taihape on Thursday, met defeat at i the hands of the home team by one j goal to nil. The match was a good exhibition. Heavy snow had fallen, and this made the ground rather difficult. The teams were fairly evenly matched, though Taihape showed rathet the better finish. The selector. Mr. W.
