Only Two Golf Pros. Will Notv Represent N.Z. in Australia
TWO of the four professionals selected by the New Zealand Golf Professionals’ Association to go to Australia to compete in the Australian open, J. D. McIntosh, Palmerston North, and A. *T- Shaw. Napier, left Wellington by the Marama today for Sydney. The other two chosen. E. .7. Moss, Auckland, and E. C. Douglas, Maungakiekie, were unable to make the journey. Quite a number of Southern experts consider that the South Island w a s badly treated in regard to the selection, and that J. If. Clements and IT. R. Blair, both of Christchurch, * might well ha ve been included in the team. Blair's consistency alone entitled him to inclusion, and seeing that the expenses of the trip have been subscribed by both Islands, it would appear to have been a fair thing to have included at least one man from the South. However, Macintosh and Shaw will be the only New Zealand professionals to uphold the honour of New Zealand at Adelaide when the time comes. Both should do well.
